For backend-oriented roles, future Supernovans must demonstrate exceptional self-management and problem-solving abilities. Every day, we tackle complex challenges and build solid foundations that drive our product forward. Our backend systems leverage Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, and more—and we expect you to have outstanding expertise with these technologies as a starting point.

At Supernova, you’ll be responsible for:
• Designing and implementing high-performance, reliable APIs that power key functionalities for top-tier companies
• Rapidly iterating with product teams to enhance existing features and develop new capabilities
• Solving challenging problems such as optimizing the performance of large data sets and architecting robust, real-time services
• Adding real-time multiplayer capabilities across the platform to support collaborative features
• Improving and extending core backend services that support our cutting-edge documentation editor and other front-end experiences
• Using our own product day-to-day to dogfood new backend features and services
• Building AI-powered experiences of various kinds
• Working on [unannounced 👀] features to redefine what product development is
Job Requirement
We want to hear from you if you:
• Have 7+ years of experience building and maintaining backend systems
• Have professional experience with most technologies mentioned above
• Launched multiple professional products (or major features) in the past
• Worked on complex systems with high availability requirements
• Worked in/with high-performing, English-speaking teams
• Actively explore the idea of automating as much of your work as possible
Tech & Tools we use:
• Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, Docker
• REST for primary communication and WebSockets (e.g., Liveblocks.io) for multiplayer
• Infrastructure managed by SST + CDK
• CloudWatch, Sentry and other logging/monitoring tools
• GitHub Copilot or equivalent
• GitHub, Slack, Notion
